Valpolicella, our land

Walking through the gentle hills northwest of Verona, one feels a heartbeat: an ancient, profound rhythm that has brought life to the slopes of Valpolicella for millennia.

Originally, the area was covered by the vast Tethys Sea, whose organic remnants contributed to the formation of limestone soils. Later, orogenesis, tectonic movements, and intense volcanic activity shaped the marble and basalt that define the region. Valpolicella is a unique and distinct land where exceptional geological formations coexist.

A virtuous cycle of life, history, and traditions.

In the vibrant heart of this land, the Valpolicella Classica, lies Villa San Pietro Winery, a true expression of our winemaking philosophy cultivated over five generations.

At the roots of our project

After years of work and research as winemakers in Valpolicella, we felt the need to create a distinctive oenological project that would fully embody our philosophy. Using advanced tools for soil zoning, we identified an ideal plot on the highest hills of the Valpolicella Classica to bring our vision to life. In Cavalo, a locality perched at 600 meters above sea level, the soil composition is calcareous and marl-based; our vineyards are situated on terraces facing south and southeast.

These morphological characteristics, combined with the significant temperature variation between day and night, create the ideal conditions for producing wines that are aromatic, long-lived, complex, and persistent.

Organic and Eco-Sustainable

Driven by the desire to explore the potential of achieving quality while adhering to the principles of organic farming and completing a journey of environmental sustainability, Cantina Monteci began a process of organic conversion applied to all its vineyards in 2015.
